Has anyone noticed there are currently two high profile advertising campaigns running at the moment using exactly the same 'quirky' concept, buildings that have 'faces'?
Imagine the clients' disdain (a family car brand and O2 broadband) when they find their exorbitant marketing budgets have been spent on producing identical campaigns. Even worse, picture the carnage in the agencies' creative departments. For once the expression 'gutted' is totally appropriate, if the art directors haven't already committed hari kari, they must be dying of acute embarrassment having found their 'original' concept, being displayed in the same media at the same time.
Meanwhile, here's some of my 'originals' now consigned to the bin...

Oh MillyMollyEtc, what fun. Architectural faces abound- the Bamburgh Sector Lighthouse with its retrousse nose, the baleful stare of a pair of garage doors in Tollard Royal in Dorset. And of course the examples collected together by somebody for one of the Pentagram Papers. Time you did a book to put them all to shame.
Yes but, no but, yes...
